Faintly he heard a voice and his eyes rolled under half closed lids. "Dani?" His voice soft making him sound like she'd woken him up or he was drugged. He was somewhere inbetween. Besides speaking so softly, he could barely get out two words. He left perfectly fine this morning. She wondered what could have happened to him in that short amount of time. He couldn't have gotten hurt; he must be sick. "Hold on Alec! I am on my way. Keep your cell close to you that way if I cannot find you I can call you back. Hang on!" Dani decided her best chance of getting to the mall quickly was to take the subway. The bus would stop and go so much that it would hold her up. A taxi, yeah right, it would take forever just to flag one down. At least the entrance to the subway was right by her apartment and it came really close to the mall. She should be there in no time. She couldn't even begin to imagine what had happened to him. He took care of me when that girl attacked me; it is only right that I do the same in return.

She tucked her hands into her sweatshirt pockets and kept her bad memories from resurfacing. This wasn't the place for them. She came here to forget about them, even if it was only temporary... so that's what she should do. Realizing that her shoulders were somewhat tensed, she shook them out slightly as she walked next to Rogue. "Where from the South are you from?" she asked her, mentally changing the subject. She'd never been any further south than the interstate that she took to Washington state and never got a chance since then to go 'explore'. She didn't really know why she didn't head there in the first place, instead of back to New York state. Oh, wait, it's way too warm down there. I'd probably die of dehydration-- and not from lack of blood. Great, this doesn't help. Dani took a quick look at the map of the mall and found the food court. She quickly walked to the food court and tried to remember what he said. Hallway… She had to look for an enterance to a hallway. She looked around the food court and finally found it. She opened the door and slipped in. Dani found Alec on the floor with his cell lying next to him with milk cartons around him. She became concerned when she saw his body shaking. She didn't know what was going on but she knew he looked horrible and it wasn't good. Dani nudged Alec, "Alec, it's Dani. I'm here. Are you OK? What can I do for you?" She realized she was rambling at him and stopped to see if he would answer.

She wasn't sure what to think except that he really looked bad; he could barely talk. Get him out of here… How? He wouldn't be able to walk out and she couldn't carry him out. "Hold on Alec, I'll get you some help." Instead of trying to find her cell phone, she just picked his up off the floor and started to dail 911.

Dani caught his attention when she said she'd get him help. His eyes followed her movements to get his phone. He couldn't let her do that! "NO! Dani!" His voice desperate as he reached for his phone. "OK Alec, no problem. I will use your phone to call for a cab." While Dani was calling for the cab and telling them where to come, she was planning in her head how she was going to manage this. It didn't look like this hallway had an exit but she wasn't sure she would be able to get him out of the mall without being noticed in his condition. "Can you stand? Please tell me you have an idea of how you want me to help you out of here."

She just prayed he didn't a seizure or whatever it was again. She wasn't sure she would be able to keep him standing if he did. Dani put her right hand under his upper arm. While shifting her body towards him she placed her left forearm just below the other hand. She used all her strength and she was able to get him up and lean him against the wall. "How are you feeling? Are you ready?"

"I'm sorry if I'm being too nosy, I don't really mean to be." Passing by a store where music was blaring from the speakers, she rubbed her temples as it pounded through her head. Damn, she hated her sensitive hearing sometimes, but this would make a normal person cringe even!

But the seizure and lingering tremors left him shaking and weak. Alec hated using Dani as much as he did but it took quite a bit to get him up. He leaned heavily into the wall as a tremor made him shake. The world wasn't spinning, so that was a good thing but it was going to take all of his focus and concentration to get down the hallway and out into the mall. Alec wiped his sweating face with his sleeve. "Piece of cake from here." He told Dani with a non-convincing grin. "Let me... put my arm around your shoulders... put your arm around my waist." "Maybe we can pull this thing off." All he had to do was get out of the mall. Thanks to "Angel for the sig!

Once he was standing on his feet leaning on the wall she saw his body shake. She was worried about him and didn't understand why he wouldn't let her call for help. It made her wonder if he was in trouble with the law or something. Figures, she would pick up a guy that is running from the law. But then again her mind may have been running wild; he may just not like hospitals. He could also know what was wrong with him and just wanted a quiet place to recover. "Piece of cake… I have to say you do not sound very convincing." "We need to walk laughing or something so it doesn't look like I am dragging you out of here. We need to look like to people holding each other having a good laugh." Dani put his arm around her shoulder and put her arm around his waist. "Are you ready?"

This would be one of the hardest things he's ever done. "Yeah.. piece of cake..." He stood away from the wall. His legs held him. Alec understood what Dani was saying. "We just need to act like a couple of lovers." He gave her a smile. " I think we can do that can't we?" Alec took a deep breath and grew serious. He had to focus. "Yeah.. let's do this." There were a couple of exits to the outside but none that close or what seemed close to where they now stood. He had to give Dani a smile though. She was a trouper and he'd owe her a lot. "Me either Dani, I did want to see you again, I just hadn't figured on it being this soon." A tremor hit him, causing his knee to almost buckle. He caught himself on the wall. She wouldn't be there if he hadn't helped her and there was that side benefit to him. "Yeah and I wanted to see you too again but not like this." Dani almost lost him when she felt his body twitching. This was not looking good. "We might have to find a table? I don't know how we are not going to need a table really soon."
